Negative Databases

  • Central Negative database

The RiskSentinel team manages the central negative database. It is an option - only clients willing to make data available for the database will be allowed to benefit from.

The information within the database will not be accessible to anyone outside of select management within The RiskSentinel team. An individual/card/payment account recognised within the negative database will return a reject 'identified with the negative database' response.
Criteria set for inclusion within the database - are identifiable fraud.

The RiskSentinel team will additionally add the details of 'individuals' who clearly attempt fraud. This will enable further attempts with any matching identifiable information to be turned away from all participating RiskSentinel protected sites.

An Account/Individual maybe identified as fraudulent pre chargeback from their behavior pattern - this will however be further enforced through the review process. The review process involves more complex and time-consuming mechanisms used to identify the validity of an individual.

  • Merchant/Brand Specific negative database

This database is managed completely by the merchant. The Merchant sets the criteria for inclusion in this database. Where the merchant chooses to use The RiskSentinel as a service, Risk Operatives acting according to the criteria set by the merchant will add data.

Should the merchant decide not to participate in the central database this will be the main negative database. Individuals who the merchant does not choose to do business with may be added at this level.

This could apply to particularly successful (in terms of winnings) gamblers.

  • Share Groups

Merchants/Brands who wish to share a negative database amongst a group rather than centrally can be accommodated. The RiskSentinel team can be asked to facilitate or a separate team can be given that responsibility.
